Fremlin’s Beer Automaton Advertising Elephant (SOLD)


This is a very rare piece of advertising history, made from Papier Mâché, this automaton elephant used to advertise Fremlin’s Beer of Maidstone Kent, such elephants were placed in pubs and off licenses in Kent where Fremlins beer was sold, the elephant’s head gently nods back and forth when connected to a 9 volt electric current. Fremlin’s was a brewery in Maidstone, Kent, England. It was established by Ralph Fremlin in 1861, the beer was known for the distinctive elephant logo on the bottles. Complete with makers mark and patent No 410223, in excellent condition for its age and a stunning piece of advertising history.
