Antique brass seahorse door knocker. A heavy brass door knocker in the form of a Seahorse, the makers mark of a Spanish Cross is stamped on the back. C1905
Door knockers have been in use for centuries, from elaborate Georgian designs of Grecian goddesses to lion heads and more simple ring designs. Their popularity only waned with the introduction of the electric doorbell.
A lovely door knocker, it remains in original condition, will require a strike plate. This Seahorse would make a lovely addition to any costal home front door.
