Vintage Grumbacher No 220 Easel

A Superb Grumbacher No 220 Easel. Made from Mahogany, this large easel has the traditional H frame, is an adjustable professional ease, with a drop front drawer for storing art supplies. Made to last and beautifully crafted, with a very sturdy frame, made to hold a heavy canvas or display art work, easily moved with adjustable pads on the front. The makers mark Grumbacher No 220 is stamped on the top of the easel. C1950

In 1905, Max Grumbacher, an Austrian immigrant, founded his company in New York City with a commitment to excellence. Working closely with Old World manufacturers from Europe, he was able to import, and eventually manufacture art supplies of exceptional quality in the United States. While Grumbacher is primarily known for its art supplies, particularly paints and brushes, the history of their easels is not as prominently documented as their other products, though their company’s origins and long-standing reputation for quality suggest they would have offered easels as part of their comprehensive art material for many years.

This Easel is in fantastic original condition, would look great as an art work display stand or used for intended purpose.
