Victorian Peal & Co Leather Boot Trunk

A Superb Full English Leather Boot Trunk By Peal & Co London. Beautifully Made from English Leather Hide, this wonderful trunk comes with bags of charm and the perfect amount of age over the leather that give the piece a real authenticity. The outer edge of the lid has the makers mark ‘ Peal & Co’ 487 Oxford Street S1 London. With a heavy-duty brass lock, the trunk contains a pair of vintage Field Marshal leather riding boots (size 9 UK), the lid has a lovely pair of boot pulls. Its large size makes the uses for this antique, endless. C1880

Peal & Co were established in 1791 by Samuel Peal, was a prestigious London-based boot-maker and leather goods firm that operated for over 170 years until its closure in 1965. While best known for bespoke footwear, the company held a policy of making any high-quality item in the trade, which included producing premium handmade leather luggage, trunks, and related travel gear. Very few rare and delightful examples of well-patinated, top quality, hand stitched cowhide luggage produced by Peal & Co have survived, which makes this boot trunks desirable and collectable.
