18th Century Chinoiserie Ebonised Music Chairs (SOLD)

£3,750.00

These stunning 18th century chinoiserie black ebonised hand painted chairs were made for Brighton Pavilion’s Music Room during the Regency period 1811 – 1820.

The paintwork is nicely faded and worn as you would expect for chairs well over 200 years old, each chair has its own unique hand painted design and are numbered on the underside, the cane on each chair is in excellent condition, these chairs remain functional for their age.

This type of furniture is very rare and highly collectible, considered art furniture in their own right, the quality of the painting is exquisite.  Chinoiserie was a decorative style in Western art, furniture, and architecture, especially in the 18th century, characterised by the use of Chinese motifs and techniques.  Seat Hight 44cm. (sold as a set of 4 chairs)

Dimensions: H: 85cm W: 42cm D: 36cm
