A lovely Pair of Heraldic cast Shields, depicting the Yorkshire Rose, The Lion and the St Georges Cross, guarding the top of the Shields is a Griffon. 

The Griffon, a beautiful mythical mix of eagle and loin is the most well known of all the heraldic monsters. It is the emblem of valor and magnanimity.

The Rose denotes distinction, it is also used to denote belonging to the House of York (white rose) 

The Lion, regarded as the noblest of all the wild beasts, making it the symbol of strength and valor. The best known heraldic symbol. 

This fine pair have lovely patina and retain their original paint. Made in England. C1920
