Aluminium Milliners Colonial Pith Helmet Mould (SOLD)

A Superb Aluminium Milliners Hat Mould. A solid polished aluminium milliners hat mould, these moulds were used by milliners for moulding hats, they would have been heated from underneath to form the hat around the moulds, remains in excellent condition. C1920

This mould is of The Colonial Pith Helmet, a distinctive British design developed and popularised in the late 19th and early 20th century. It was the official designation for the universal sun helmet worn by the British Army from 1899 to 1948, with its brim it provided greater protection from the sun, and its use was soon widespread among British personnel serving overseas.

A lovely piece of military memorabilia and traditional hat making, remains in excellent condition, the aluminium has been polished to showcase the metal.
