Antique Bleached Oak Green Man Hall Table

A superb bleached Oak Green man Hall Table. Made from English Oak, with heavy hand carving to the top, side and down the baulbus turned legs, the Green man mask is to the front centre and to the side of the legs, the freeze comprises of 2 hand carved serpents and a shield motif, with one pull out side drawer. C1880

A Green Man hall table is a piece of furniture, often Victorian Gothic, featuring the ancient “Green Man” motif—a face emerging from or surrounded by foliage—symbolising nature, rebirth, and life, a carving style popular in churches that saw a revival in 19th-century carpentry for decorative pieces like hall tables, consoles, and seats.

This beautiful ornate hall table, still retaining its elegance, of good proportions and a very solid piece, remains in original condition. Would look lovely in the hallway or the bedroom as a dressing table.
