Hall tables, commonly known as console tables, originated in 17th-century France as ornate, wall-mounted decorative pieces for aristocratic homes. Evolving from purely ornamental to functional storage, they became popular in 18th-century Georgian interiors as slim, stylish furniture. Their design transitioned from ornate Baroque to versatile, modern styles.
This beautiful ornate hall table, still retaining its elegance, of good proportions and a very solid piece, remains in original condition. Would look lovely in the hallway or as a side table in the front room. (Table H: 80cm without frieze)
