Stunning turn of the century antique campaign chest made of exceptionally thick camphor wood.

The top has shaped brass brackets and the sides have brass edging, inset with a brass plaque & brass lock with a small brass handle to open the chest, the interior has brass locks. (No Key) C1900.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, camphor chests were used to carry tea, silk and porcelain from china to Europe and America. Camphor wood has a fresh scent that is like eucalyptus and is a natural repellent against months.
