A Beautiful Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Wheel Barometer, by Jos. Somalvico & Co. of 2 Hatton Garden, London. The mahogany case has been hand painted in a floral design on a black lacquered finish, the dial is silvered, the swan neck scrolled pediment has an inlaid thermometer, and a hand turned bone button setting wheel, this barometer is in excellent condition. C1840

Joseph Somalvico as flourishing from 1833 – 1860 at 37 Charles Street and at 2 Hatton Garden from 1839 – 1860. Noting that “Under his direction, the family firm achieved a prominent position”, he adds that the firm returned to 16 Charles Street in 1869.

A beautiful and rare example of quality craftsmanship.
