A superb Edwardian enamel advertising sign from the world famous Purdey  London, this sign is in fantastic condition, used to advertise quality cartridges. C1905

Founded in 1814, Purdey is the quintessential British brand that specifically caters to country sports and the lifestyle that surrounds it. It originally started out as a rifle maker and over the course of 200 years or so it has patented many designs for the sport of shooting. 

As early as 1838, Queen Victoria is recorded as having bought a pair of Purdey pistols.

During the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries the company supplied ornate guns and rifles to various Indian princes.

The company was granted its first Royal Warrant in 1868 by The Prince of Wales, King Edward VII; today the company holds warrants from:

  • The Queen
  • The Duke of Edinburgh
  • The Prince of Wales
