Rare Oak Prefects Shield (SOLD)

£375.00

This Oak Prefects Shield dates from 1923, with the name G.R. Wakeling who was head prefect from 1924 – 1934. Hand Painted with the a black & white cross with 5 lions on a hand carved wooden hanging plaque. C1923

The Lion is a common charge in heraldry. It traditionally symbolises courage, nobility, royalty, strength, stateliness and valour, because historically the lion has been regarded as the “king of beasts”.

A superb piece and in original condition. Rare to find a plaque as most prefect would normally receive a shield shape award, which makes this piece unique.
