A Rare Vintage Germa Milliners head, hand carved from sycamore, used for making hats and shop display. The makers mark is stamped on the side of the head. C1920
Wooden milliners heads, also known as hat blocks or display heads, became popular for millinery in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, serving both as practical tools for shaping hats and as decorative display pieces. These heads, often carved and sometimes affixed to stands, helped milliners create and fit elaborate headwear for women, reflecting the intricate and fashionable hats of that era.
These wooden heads are becoming extremely hard to find so have become very rare to find. This head would make a great display piece.
